What's Inside?
The
Globe Fan S1352512H is a 13.5cm, 25mm thick, 12V sleeve bearing fan that we have seen used on a OCZ's older ModXStream series and more recently
Lian Li's Silent Force PSU.
Like Lian Li, OCZ revs this big boy right down until it's very quiet, which is a big bonus. However, the black bladed fan seems to lack the manufacturing quality compared to the clear bladed version - the plastic used being obviously different and a fundamental factor here.

Inside, OCZ uses some very basic heatsinks - merely a plain slab of metal with no extra fins or extrusions for maximising surface area and heat transfer to the air. This isn't the first time we've seen this though - we know OCZ did the same thing with its old GameXStreams. It's clearly a cost down option - simpler components are cheaper - but other brands still manage to squeeze some degree of meaty cooling into their PSUs.
The main transformer is pretty chunky, but it sits directly under the fan's dead spot, so doesn't receive any direct cooling from above. The 12V line is still separate from the smaller 3.3V and 5V lines, which have their own smaller transformer.

The PCB design is OCZ's - this PSU is not a simple re-brand - and the build quality is good, with a clean PCB underneath. OCZ uses all "TRec" capacitors, varying from 85-105ºC (larger to smaller). TRec is actually Transcend Electrolytic Company, based in Shenzhen, South China. We've never heard of them before.
